so, since the days of a piercingly blue eyed girl, staring into the camera wide eyed and then alternatingly moving in and out of darkness in an eerie wilderness, talking about BLAIR WITCH PROJECT here in case you were wondering, :), its been a while since we had someone offer up a home video style spooky-mentary.

And so, we have, the recent, crazy-amount-of-news-making $15000 worth project PARANORMAL ACTIVITY.

MIKA AND KATIE are a San Diego dwelling couple who have been living together for 3 years. MIKA is a trader (or at least thats what i gathered) by day and an electric guitar strumming, video camera loving wise guy?sweet, loving boyfriend.

KATIE is his no nonsense, practical but strangely appealing and definitely haunting, girlfriend. She has some serious skeletons in her closet think: fires, childhood, demons, visions etc.

What happens when friendly neighbourhood psychic drops by to investigate KATIE's mysterious past and current fears?

Ah. Well. for a large part, not much. this one picks up in the latter half buildng slowly but surely and while you watch often waiting for 'something' to happen, nothing dos.

and therein lies the clever beauty- the suspense. suspense of watching a normal couple doing normal things (one of the few stagey moments here was an invasive teeth brushing scene which seemed a bit idiotic and avoidable) and that great suspense of watching a DARK bedroom and the couple SLEEPING in their bed, with the camera stationery, recording over several hours live footage of all and any 'paranormal ' occurrences.

the surprise is there. and it is disturbing.

still think blair witch is one up but this one has a very uncomfy normalcy, intrigue, and evasiveness to it. much is left unseen, off camera.

in that $15000 budget, i assume of course, much had to be :)

worth a watch... just make sure you dont have a restless crowd and trust me, the right atmosphere will make it that much more spooky.
